About Cancara Z
Cancara Z, a showjumping crack from the dam’s line of Cöster! This very capable Holsteiner Cancara Z already made a deep impression with his enormous showjumping potential during his licensing in Neumünster. Like the famous Grand Prix showjumping stallions Berlin (Gerco Schröder) and Cumano (Jos Lansink) also Cancara Z is a son of the much valued progenitor Cassini I, who himself had displayed his qualities at the highest level of the sport under Franke Sloothaak.
Dam’s sire Corofino I (Corrado I) had himself also been active in the international sport for many years under Valerio Sozzi. But Corofino I has also earned a good reputation as sire of the Olympic showjumping horses Corlato (Tim Stockdale) and Russel (Nick Skelton). In the dam’s line we further find two fine sons of Cor de la Bryère, namely Constant and Calypso I.
In 1996 and 1997, Griseldi was the best 4 and 5 year old horse at Hessen. He won 12 comeptiions as a six-year-old and had scores of 9.0 for his style at gradings. At 7 years old, Griseldi was the 7th world champion at Zangershiede.
He was bought by Paul Schockemöhle and began his career as a grand prix showjumper with Otto Becker. He was subsequently purchased by Rudolf Damhus and under the guidance of Ulrich Kirchoff, he won the 'Best of Champions' at Aachen. Only a week later, he won the final at Eimhole, with 15 horses in the jump off. He then won the grand prix at Münster, was 3rd in the Euroclassics at Brême – all as an 8 year old. Unfortunately, he had a career-ending injury in 2001. Today, Griseldi is still relevant thanks to his many successful progeny.
His father, Grosso Z was a prolific sire of showjumpers (Goldfever - M. Michaels-Beerbaum) and dressage (Goethe, Zorro Z). His dam, Galina Z was by Graphit, the sire of Grannus among others. Equally, Griseldi's lineage is common to many international showjumpers such as Eurocommerce Rome, and the stallions Ghostwind, Fortundatus, Landkönig, Feingau and Weissherbst.
