How will the HYBRID auction work in practice?

The Kingsman Hybrid Equine Elite Sport Horse Auction is an exciting new format that harnesses the power and reach of the internet and combines this with a traditional on-site auction ring. Our sport horse auctions provide a more engaging, interactive experience. Sellers can easily submit their horses for sale online and buyers can view the auction lots via a live stream or in person at the auction ring. Buyers can bid via the convenience of the Kingsman Auction App which in turn provides real-time updates to sellers.

The on-site auction sale will be a ticketed event held at a number of leading equestrian venues, initially in the UK (such as Wellington Riding).  These top-class facilities reflect the premium nature of the Kingsman auction

There will be a range of hospitality packages available. Auction progress will be charted and the eventual close will be marked with a round-up of the results and presentations to the successful bidders. The auction will be brought to end in stages, commencing at 7pm and closing in blocks of two lots, 10 minutes apart.

However, the virtual sale will begin some time prior to formal opening of the physical auction. Potential buyers will have the opportunity to watch videos of the lots, access X-rays and register their interest in the sale of a particular Lot or Lots.

What is the benefit of an online auction?

Online auctions are on the increase in the equine world, but they are primarily hosted by studs or very large producers of horses, usually in one geographical location. The Kingsman Equine auction opens up and attracts this type of selling and buying to sellers of all sizes - from commercial stables to small independent producers and/or breeders from across Continental Europe, Ireland and the UK - and potential buyers from around the globe.

What are the benefits to the buyer?

  • Online access to top quality sport horses from a wide range of breeders and producers from multiple countries.

  • Low purchase commission compared to other UK based auctions with a buyer premium of 7%.
  • Strict criteria for admission of horses to the sale, to ensure top quality lots together with complete transparency with regard to vetting, the overall health of the horse and the suitably for sport use.

  • Low sales commission compared to most other UK based auctions with a seller commission of 5%.
  • Access to a larger pool of potential buyers due to the use of an online auction and the increased reach of the internet.
